Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born August 8, 1989, in Paris. They was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five and enrolled in at the Dragon School. Emma was six years old when she made the decision to be an actor. She studied for a number of years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford in which she learned acting and singing. In a school play and the stage of a Stagecoach Production, Emma took her role as lead actress at 10, and acted. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book began in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma by way of her Oxford theatre instructor. After eight consecutive auditions, director David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast as the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first cinematic appearance was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It broke all records in the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs and became the top-grossing movie in 2001. It was highly acclaimed by reviewers, and so were the performance of three new starlets. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British paper, called Emma's performance "amazing". Emma received the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in the Feature Film. She was later awarded five times for her part in the film.
